2011

Three IKEA stores in the Son en Breugel/Netherlands, Lille/France and Ghent/Belgium have been hit by fireworks attacks on May 30, 2011. No serious injuries have been reported and the stores were scheduled to re-open earlier on May 31, 2011.

One of the explosions took place in Son en Breugel, Holland, and destroyed a trash can shortly before the store was due to close around 6 p.m. on May 30, 2011. 

The furniture retailer's store in Lomme/France was also targeted.

In Ghent/Belgium were two explosions inside the store around 6 p.m. on May 30, 2011. Around 250 people – customers and staff - were evacuated to a nearby hotel. An employee and a security guard complained of minor ear injuries as a result of the noise.

IKEA spokeswoman Magnusson said May 30, 2011, explosions were all caused by "small fireworks devices".

In drei Filialen des schwedischen Möbelhauses Ikea in Gent/Belgien, Lomme/Frankreich und Breugel/Niederlanden sind gegen 18 Uhr kleine Sprengsätze explodiert. Die Vorgehensweise sei an allen Orten gleich gewesen. Verletzt wurde niemand, der Schaden war gering.

In Gent wurden 200 Kunden per Durchsage gebeten, das Gebäude zu verlassen. Ein Angestellter und ein Wachmann wurden nach dem Knall wegen Ohrenschmerzen behandelt.

In Breugel/Niederlanden explodierte ein Paket in einem Mülleimer auf dem Parkplatz vor dem Ikea-Geschäft. 

In Lomme/Frankreich geschah die Explosion im Laden selbst.

Laut einer Ikea-Sprecherin der Konzernzentrale in Helsingborg soll es sich bei den Explosionen um gezündete Feuerwerkskörper handeln. 30.5.2011

2009

Wijnendale. Un résidu de feu d'artifice a mis le feu peu a après minuit à une veranda dans la Steenstraat .

Anvers-Deurne (Antwerp-Deurne). Un adolescent (15) a été brûlé au troisième degré à la suite d'un jet de pétards dans sa direction par deux garçons inconnus. Une pétard a glissé dans le col d'un vêtement de la victime, avant d'exploser.

2008

L'Eglise Saint-Pierre de Gammerages (Galmaarden), dans le Brabant flamand, a été ravagée par le feu. Selon la VRT, l'origine de l'incendie pourrait être une fusée de feu d'artifice. Les pompiers de Grammont ont confirmé cette hypothèse. "Nous avons trouvé des fusées de feu d'artifice à proximité de l'église." 12.5.2008

Riot police in Brussels have clashed with hundreds of fishermen demonstrating outside European Union headquarters against high fuel costs. Television footage showed protesters hurling flares, rock and firecrackers at police.

2007

Neufchâteau. A boy (17) was trying out a recipe for a firecracker, found on the internet. The explosion caused by the mixture of the different products caused the boy serious injury to both hands, one had to be amutated. His mother was injured, too.

Stabroek. Fire at the Market Bazaar destroyed four stalls and damaged two others. The Guyana Fire Service is working on the theory that the fire may have been caused by illegal electrical connections. When the fire reached stall number 74, the official said, firecrackers began to explode in a context of live electricity wires, which increased the intensity of the blaze. Fire Chief David stated that the ignition caused by the fire crackers contributed to the spread of the fire. 8.11.2007

Sledderlo (Genk). Quatre enfants d'environ 10 ans ont jeté une petite bombe de feux d'artifice qu'ils avaient trouvée dans un feu, ce qui a provoqué une explosion. Les enfants souffrent de brûlures des mains et du visage, certaines au deuxième degré. 30.12.2007

2002

Essen, Province of Antwerp. A man (41) from Holland has died after a box of fireworks accidentally exploded in his face during New Year's celebrations. Officials say he was critically injured during the traditional lighting of fireworks at midnight. 1.1.2002

Essen, Provinz Antwerpen. Ein 41jähriger Niederländer wurde tödlich verletzt, als er ein Silvesterfeuerwerk abschiessen wollte. Noch in seinen Händen war eine Rakete explodiert. Der Mann starb noch an der Unglücksstelle. 1.1.2002

Brüssel/Belgien. Als rund 50'000 Landwirte gegen die Agrarpolitik der EU demonstrierten, kam es im EU-Viertel zu Auseinandersetzungen mit der Polizei. Bauern schleuderten Flaschen, Feuerwerkskörper und Steine auf die Polizisten.
