Denpasar/Bali. At least six people have been admitted to Sanglah Hospital due to burn injuries after firecracker explosions during New Year celebrations. 1.1.2010

Jakarta. A small truck carrying firecrackers which will be destroyed exploded in the Pluit business warehouse complex near the Jakarta Outer Ring Road in Kamal, North Jakarta. As a result, five people who brought that firecrackers suffered from serious burns. 10.8.2010

East Jakarta. The prohibition for playing firecrackers issued by City govt. seems ignored by people in East Jakarta. As a result, an accident has occurred. Around 8.30 p.m., a firecracker was stuck in an electricity pole and exploded, breaking the pole. The fire on the electricity cable spread easily to a house at Jl Otista 2 RT 06/09 no. 12A Bidaracina, Jatinegara, which is under the cable. And the house was unavoidably burned. 6.9.2010

Bali. The New Year's Eve celebration took its toll with 13 people admitted to hospital for burns from a fireworks accident. The majority of patients had their eyes injured by tiny splinters from the fireworks. 31.12.2010

Jakarta. Authorities say firecrackers may have started a blaze that destroyed 130 houses in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta. 25.1.2009

2007

 

Sumenep, East Java. One man (25) died and two others were badly injured in a powerful explosion at a house. Police said the explosion was most likely caused by fireworks. 6.10.2007

Salatiga, Central Java. The police said an explosion that occurred at the residence of a retired army officer was caused by fireworks. The powerful explosion had badly damaged the house and two others nearby.  21.10.2007

2002

 

Indramayu (West Java). 12 people were burned to death and 16 others seriously injured when a passenger bus carrying fireworks exploded. The explosion was apparently caused by a large quantity of fireworks belonging to one of the 34 passengers. Eventually heat might have set the fireworks off because they were being in the rear of the bus near the engine. 23.8.2002

Kalibakung village near Slawi. September 21, 2002, an explosion at the Kembang Api (fire flower/firework) factory killing at least six workers instantly. Another six workers were later pronounced dead at hospital. 21 others were injured, all of them are workers of the factory.  The explosion destroyed several nearby building. The blast occurred in a room where the female workers were mixing raw materials for the fireworks and drying them near the warehouse when the explosion occurred. 

Fireworks are illegal in Indonesia except at public events approved by authorities, but are widely available, especially during festive periods and religious holidays.  

September 22, 2002, the death toll rose to 15 and hospital officials said it could rise further. Most of those who died and all of the injured in the blast were women. 

Police said the explosion could have been triggered by sparks from a short circuit in a generator located near a warehouse where the factory stored raw materials for firecrackers.

2001

 

Pasuruan/East Java. A 5,000-strong pro-Wahid mob torched a Protestant church after security forces forced them away from government buildings they were trying to attack. Police fired warning shots to disperse the mobs who responded by throwing fireworks and burning tires on the streets.

Insel Java. Drei Detonationen zerstören eine Feuerwerksfabrik. Mindestens 22 der etwa 100 Arbeiter sterben, 55 Menschen werden zum Teil schwer verletzt. Viele Opfer können wegen starker Verbrennungen nicht identifiziert werden. Juni 1995
