Jakarta.
A small truck carrying firecrackers which will be destroyed exploded in the Pluit business warehouse
complex near the Jakarta Outer Ring Road in Kamal, North Jakarta. As
a result, five people who brought that firecrackers suffered from serious burns.

Jakarta. The prohibition for playing firecrackers issued by City govt. seems
ignored by people in East Jakarta. As a result, an accident has occurred. Around
8.30 p.m., a firecracker was stuck in an electricity pole and exploded, breaking
the pole. The fire on the electricity cable spread easily to a house at Jl
Otista 2 RT 06/09 no. 12A Bidaracina, Jatinegara, which is under the cable. And

Bali. The New Year's Eve celebration took its toll with
13 people admitted to hospital for burns from a fireworks accident. The majority
of patients had their eyes injured by tiny splinters from the fireworks.

Indramayu (West
Java). 12 people were burned to death and 16 others seriously injured when a passenger bus carrying fireworks exploded. The explosion was apparently
caused by a large quantity of fireworks belonging to one of the 34 passengers.
Eventually heat might have set the fireworks off because they were being in the
rear of the bus near the engine.

Fireworks
are illegal in Indonesia except at public events approved by authorities,
but are widely available, especially during festive periods and religious
holidays.
September 22, 2002, the death toll rose to 15 and hospital officials said it could rise further. Most of those who died and all of the injured in the blast were women.
Police said the explosion could have been triggered by sparks from a short circuit in a generator located near a warehouse where the factory stored raw materials for firecrackers.

Pasuruan/East Java. A 5,000-strong pro-Wahid mob torched a Protestant church after security forces forced them away from government buildings they were trying to attack. Police fired warning shots to disperse the mobs who responded by throwing fireworks and burning tires on the streets.
