Marinescu, head of the police department for arms, explosives and toxic
substances, urged a ban on public access to fireworks and for the sale of
pyrotechnics to be limited to authorized companies, after two people died and
hundreds were injured by firecrackers during New Year's celebrations. 3.1.2006

A woman (54) was killed by a pyrotechnical object which hit her in the head during the fireworks lit on New Year's Eve in front of Ocna Mures Hotel where she was participating in a party.
A
man (31) was killed by the blast of a homemade pyrotechnical device, a few hours
before the New Year's Eve, while he was celebrating his birthday in his house.
He lit the fuse and the device exploded before he could step back. He suffered a
head injury, was taken to hospital in Bucharest, but he died on the way.
