Hanoi. Four people were killed and three other were injured in a fireworks explosion in the My Dinh National Stadium's Stage C. My Dinh National Stadium is one of 29 sites in the capital where organizers planed firework showcases for Hanoi's 1,000th birthday celebrations on October 10, 2010.

Police said that the victims were identified as Madam Seah Li Sa - a 38-year-old Singaporean woman - , two German men (55 and 56) and a Vietnamese. Two other Vietnamese and a German who were injured in the explosion are in hospital.

The blast sent large chunks of metal flying and shattered windows at least 200 metres away.

The blast happened when a shipment of fireworks blew up.

Police verified the carelessness during the transportation of the two containers of fireworks caused the blast.

Hanoi Police Agency's director said the accident will not affect the fireworks show on October 10, 2010. (According to plan, the fireworks show on October 10 at the My Dinh National Stadium will last for 20 minutes and it will be organized by 40 experts from Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong and 28 Vietnamese experts. The organizer imported three containers weighing 40 tons of fireworks from Italy, USA and China and 13 containers of equipment to serve the fireworks show, the largest ever in Vietnam.) 6.10.2010
