2011

 

Limassol. Disturbances before and after the Limassol derby between AEL and Apollon resulted in three injuries - two policemen and one fan. One of the policemen was injured slightly in the hand from a firecracker.13.2.2011

Kissonerga, Paphos/South West Cyprus. A boy (13) was injured while trying to make a firecracker. He suffered contusions to his left palm and on two fingers on the same hand. 13.4.2011

2010

 

Limassol. A 21-year-old girl, who was riding in the bed of a pickup truck, was celebrating with friends and threw into the air a firecracker, which landed into a trailing convertible, injuring the driver. - The 21-year-old was later picked by police and charged for possession and use of explosive material. The 59-year-old driver of the pickup was charged for negligent behaviour. 2.5.2010

2009

 

Larnaca. On the March 25 holiday, vandals blew up the main entrance at Drosia high-school, using a firecracker.

Larnaca. A 14-year-old suffered burns to his neck and damage to his ear by a firecracker thrown in a church yard. 10.-13.4.2009 (Easter weekend)

Achna Forest. Somebody tortured a cat to death: The helpless animal was found blown to pieces after culprits placed firecrackers in the cat's rectum and ears. The incident occurred sometime before April 14, 2008.

Lania village. A 16-year-old was taken to hospital, having suffered lesions on his face from the explosion of a firecracker.

Limassol. On the night of the Resurrection, in the church of Ayios Antonios, a 15-year-old tried to pick up a firecracker that had been thrown but did not explode. The firecracker exploded in his hand, severing his right thumb.

2007

 

Psimolofou village. A man (23) sustained serious injuries to his face, body, legs and lost two fingers from his right hand in an explosion caused by a firecracker. 28.3.2007

Kamares. When children threw a firework at a man (24), which exploded near his right ear, his eardrum burst and he was taken to hospital, where he was kept in for treatment. 6.4.2007

Ayios Georgios, Mazotos. The most serious firework injury was suffered by a 18-year-old soldier. A firework exploded in his palm and he had to be treated at hospital. 7.4.2007

2006

 

Ormidia, Larnaca. Last week, a boy (12) was seriously injured by a firecracker which exploded in his mouth. He discovered the explosive in his garden, put it in his mouth and it exploded.

There happened several incidents with fireworks during the Easter break. Saturday, 15.4.2006:

-         Paphos. A man (52) was injured by an exploding firework while sitting in the village coffee shop when a group of youths threw the fireworks at the men. Exploding particles struck the man who sustained minor injuries.

-         Limassol's Ayios Ioannis area. A man (20) suffered first and second degree burns after somebody through a fireworks at him.

-         Limassol. Somebody threw fireworks at a woman (55) and her mother (75). The younger woman suffered various burns to her arm and chest, the older received treatment for pains in her ear.

Sunday, 16.4.2006:

-         Limassol village of Moutayiakas. A man had found a firework and was injured after it went off when he tried to pick it up.

-         Oroklini. A  man (34) was arrested for constructing the fireworks that seriously injured his son (6) yesterday. The boy was rushed to hospital after a homemade firework exploded next to him in the garden of his home, causing extensive damage to his right knee.

-         Paphos Village of Peyia. Local police arrested two boys (15/17), after exploding a firework which caused £10,000 worth of damages to the local church of the village.

2001

 

Larnaca. A teenager (17) had just lit a triangular firecracker when it exploded, injuring his left eye. He was rushed to hospital. 5.4.2001

Strovolos. A teenager (17) lost his thumb and part of the index finger when a firecracker exploded in his left hand during services at the Church of the Cross. 12.4.2001
